About this Site
You're finally going to Birthright! You're in for an amazing ten days and you don't have to plan for (or pay for) any of it. Organizers have decided where you're going to go. Your bus driver will take you there. Your guide will tell you about it. Your staff from home will tell you when to wake up, what to wear, and how much water to drink. Sit back and enjoy the journey! And when it's over...
YOU WOULD BE A FOOL TO NOT EXTEND YOUR TRIP! You'll hug your new best friends goodbye at Ben Gurion Airport. Then when they head to the check-in counter, you head back out and begin leg number two of your journey. This site is a here to help you on your way, whether to get you excited about extending or as a springboard to your trip planning. It's meant to be a definitive, one-stop, independent resource. It's not affiliated with any trip provider, travel agent, program, school, or sect, but an unbiased information point. It is created specifically with Birthrighters or young travelers on any other trip specifically in mind though anyone planning a trip to Israel will find useful tips and suggestions here. My name is Josh Novikoff. I've been on four Birthright and Birthright-related trips to Israel, have extended my trip each time, and I want to help you do the same. I love traveling and when I'm on the road I can often be seen with a guidebook in my hand. I first went on Birthright in 2006, after which I spent another great ten days traveling around Israel, Egypt, and Jordan. I staffed trips in 2008 and 2009, and spent my post-trip time getting to know Israel a little better. In 2013 I participated in a program called the Birthright Alumni Leadership Mission. I've wanted to create this resource for some time to encourage trip extensions and help people plan and make the most of their own time after their Taglit trips. That gave me the inspiration and tools I needed to get this thing started.
I'm from Brooklyn, have lived in Washington DC since 2004 and am active young leader in the Jewish community here. I write about food and arts for DCist and am excited to begin expanding into travel writing. Professionally I'm an international affairs professional.
